ASIAN AMERICANS IN FILM AND TELEVISION
According to the MPAA, Asians had the highest rate of moviegoing among all ethnic groups in the U.S. in 2016.
The U.S. Asian population grew 72% between 2000 and 2015, the fastest of any ethnic group. Asians will be the largest immigrant group in the U.S. by 2055.
In terms of buying power, Asian households earn 36% more than others, and 13.4% of Asian households will earn more than $200,000 in 2019
Despite this, according to a USC Annenberg study of the top 100 films of 2017, only 4.8% featured a character of Asian descent with a speaking role.
